Charlie Welch, Eagle Scout with Troop 76, is calling for volunteers to help install bird nesting boxes to support migratory Tree Swallows. This project is Charlie’s next step toward the Distinguished Conservation Service Award. Charlie needs help installing 21 bird nesting boxes.
Where? Russian Beach - Lordship neighborhood in Stratford
When? Sunday March 23rd, 10 AM - 12 PM
Parking Permits will be available.
How can you help?
No special skills or tools are needed. Charlie will lead any volunteers to determine sites and spacing of boxes, drive rebar into the sandy soil, attach boxes to posts, and attach posts to the rebar bases.
Also, the LIA looks forward to Charlie's presentation about the project at the LIA's Committee Meeting on March 26 (open to the public, 7 to 8pm, at the LFC Clubhouse, 21-1/2 Prospect Drive - next to the Firehouse). Here's an updated meeting agenda, to include Charlie's presentation: https://bit.ly/AgendaMarch26Committees
