Last weekend, Charlie Lautier – captain of the LIA’s Greg Ackley Memorial Park Gardens team – and team member John Florian gently pulled daffodil bulbs from their spring stage and planted 16 pink New Guinea Impatiens, 24 large orange Marigolds and 8 pink Geraniums in four Ackley Park flower beds. Charlie also hung 7 red Geraniums in pots above the rails of the Vicki Soto Memorial Gazebo, and attached patriotic bunting obtained by Christine Griffin from the Town of Stratford. Also maintaining the Ackley Park gardens are Kim Winnick and Patty Lamb.
The Lordship Improvement Association (LIA) is an all-volunteer organization, supported by donations, that maintains 8 gardens in Lordship and the popular Bluffs overlooking Long Island Sound, along with environmental and education projects (www.LordshipCT.org).
PS: TONIGHT – YOU’RE INVITED! The LIA’s committees meet to discuss upcoming projects at the LFC Clubhouse, 21-1/2 Prospect Drive (behind the Firehouse), starting at 7pm. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Nice work, Charlie and John! I love admiring my old neighborhood from afar.
