Sea Under Sunlight
My name is Taryn Pelli and I’m the artist of Sea Under the Sunlight.
I always loved the connection that lighthouses had between guiding sailors from the unforgiving seas to safety on land. The stark difference of the rough sea and the calm sight of the still light house was what I drew my inspiration from. While the sea is ever-changing, the stillness and security of the lighthouse remains. The purpose of a lighthouse is a traffic sign to bring people back to the safety of land. What we so often forget, is that the sea is a safe haven for thousands of species that humans rarely interact with. With my exhibit, I wanted to create a visual connection between the iconic man-made landmark and the untouched beauty that lies beneath the surface.
